  1. Almost perfect!Review by

Everything - almost - is great on mine. A colleague guessed it cost around £70! No broken nails although bottle opener is hardest to open.
Main blade razor sharp, no gaps, scales nicely faired in, but nothing is perfect and the main blade spring is very weak, which is a pity. It barely snaps open and closes with minimal pressure, like a UKPK. Not unusable but not robust-feeling.
Apart from that, which is also a criticism levelled against the Boker camp knife at ten times the price, it’s well worth having.

  2. Old School CharmReview by

This pocket knife is old school, and if that's what you are looking for, you'll love it. Inexpensive, the jigged bone inlay is nicely done, the knife itself being a good weight in your pocket. No pocket clip, no modern materials, a blast from the past. The drawback is the blades. Ugly Chinese manufactured "440 Stainless Steel" (Hmm...). The small blade on my knife was almost a blank there was so little edge to it: took a fair bit of work to get it acceptably sharp. The larger blade wasn't much better though at least someone had tried. The spike however was needle-sharp: the flat edged screwdriver and bottle opener had an acceptable finish. Long story short: if you want an old school camp knife buy this one and be prepared to put a bit of work into it. I'm very happy with mine, now. Usual lightning-fast delivery by HH. (Posted on )

Initial impressions are that this is well worth the money. I have no idea how the knife will wear, but I just bought it for my slipjoint collection. But even if it only lasts six months its worth the £16 it costs

Fit and finish is decent.......as good as some ( but not all) case knives I have. If you have access to polishing equipment you can have it gleaming like a beauty.

No blade play and very sharp from the box. I did have to clean off the excel polish with a cloth but that's no trouble.

    Recommended....well worth the money

  5. Much better than I hoped!Review by

I have looked at these Rough Rider knives for a while now and have been dubious about buying a made in China knife. I have a few pocket knifes, some Swiss and Sheffield ones I've had many years that are excellent. Finally decided to buy this knife to see what it would be like for the money. The fit and finish is very, very good on a par with most knives I have and better than some including sad to say some of the English ones. A couple of the blades are very tough to open but I think with use and lubrication that they'll ease up. Overall I'm very surprised and very pleased. I'll now be buying other RRs. H.H delivery as I note others have stated is first class,. (Posted on )

I know a bloke who deals in house clearances and second hand goods I mentioned to him that I collect slipjoints. He gave me a n old army knife produced around 1910/20 by Thomas Turner of Sheffield, a slipjoint with antler scales, sheepfoot blade. can opener and awl, like the RR Camper.
So I bought the Camper as it seemed a good idea . Excellent little knife worth 5 stars, Im not going to knock a star off for the few little niggles cos for the price its brilliant, anyway it will soon be bashed about a bit as I use all my knives. The knife is sharp from the box, the fit and finish is very good considering the price . The nail nick on the cap lifter is too close to the hinge point making it difficult to open, a few little gaps here and there but I can easily live with these issues. all said very good value, excellent EDC....and not forgetting HH's excellent service.

I am a long term (40 years) collector of pocket knives specialising in multi-bladed knives, and have 200 Victorinox and 100 plus other well known makes. Was very reluctant to order a China made knife as I remember the awful Swiss knife copies made in China in the 80s/90s.
Wow, ordered this knife at 4pm, got it delivered at 11 the next morning, and completely knocked out by the build quality and feel of this beauty !! Promptly ordered more RR today !
Now I know how Santa gets to all the children in one night.....he uses HH to deliver !!!!

  9. Brilliant Review by

When I was a boy my grandad filled my thoughts with tales of adventure and travel to far off lands from the frontiers of America to the African plains.... When I was 10 he gifted me a pocketknife which I loved and took with on every fishing trip I went on, and used with every treehouse or den I built...unfortunately my grandad sadly passed without knowing how much he inspired my own journeys and travels and also sadly I lost my boyhood penknife some while ago. Until I saw this which is nearly the same one!
Hopefully grandads watching and knows how happy I am to have my pocket companion back!
Absolutely brilliant service as always from HH thank you once again!
    5 stars all the way!!!

A great old school camping knife for modern times. Fantastic honeyed real bone scales, fantastc stainless steel and brass. Super sharp heavy duty main blade. Bottle opener, can opener, very sharp unique looking marlin spike, As usual great service from Heinnie and a great product from Rough Rider. Exciting to receive, open and use. Apparently the can opener on this knife is very similar to the can opener on, no less than, Isambard Kingdom Brunels pocket knife, a nice nod to history there and surely a great advert for the effectiveness of said blade. A well made , useful and handsome knife. (Posted on )

This is a solid, practical little knife. For the cost you have to ask how they can sell it for what they do. Yes it's not a SAK but its a solid little knife with a range of practical blades/tools. Looks well put together and capable of being long lived in use, but the main blade does rub slightly on the adjacent blade but everything else is fine. Solid back springs all round. A bargain at this price. (Posted on )
  14. Really nice knifeReview by
    Rating
A nice well made knife. I like the thick blades, but the back springs will take some bedding in. The knife is quite hard to open but I'm sure it'll get easier.

    Well worth the money

Thank you HH for the usual speedy service

  15. Nice with few caveatsReview by
    Rating
Quite a substantial knife and a little on the heavy side for a scout. Saying that the quality of the knife I received was superb with nicely fitted scales and a nice back spring which was strong but not too strong. The main blade was sharp and as others have noted a little on the thick side (2mm on the back). The can opener is of a design I have not seen before and is basically a short, thick, blunt blade with a knurled to rest on the can lip. The awl has a sharp point with sharpish edges nowhere near as sharp as a SAK awl. The final blade is a screwdriver/bottle opener combo. All in a substantial knife for the price and very good quality for the money. (Posted on )
  16. Good value knifeReview by

Nice looking bone scales and overall fit and finish. The "can opener" is actually a bottle opener, and the "small blade" (bit of a nail-breaker) is actually a can-opener, and a pretty awful (if classic) design. The main blade had a bit of a wire edge, but only took a few minutes to put that right, it's also a bit 'spongey' in terms of lock-up. All in all, not a bad alternative to a SAK, but the product description isn't good. (Posted on )
  17. value scout knifeReview by

Special ordered one of these a while back from Heinnie as I love scout model knives. Sood quality build and finish, sharp enough and a strong back spring. Main blade is a bit thick for me but will please others. Not a Vic Soldier but close if you can't pay twice the price for one. (Posted on )
