Gerber EAB

Gerber EAB

The Gerber Exchange-A-Blade pocket knife uses contractor grade or standard size utility blades that can be easily replaced as necessary. The stainless steel handle works well as both a pocket or a money clip, and liner lock construction keeps the blade safely in the open position when in use. The blade screw is raised for easy opening.

  1. Well built, butReview by
Incredibly well built, and one-hand operateable. However, hooked blades don't fit too well, and aren't properly supported by the lower bar along the blade edge. (Posted on )
  2. Not EDC but ok for me. Review by
Clever way to use a Stanley type utility blade. Compact but not lightweight. Not really meant for prying or twisting of course. But it works well for its intended purposes. Has a nice pleasant and tactile feel. One quickly adapts to the proper hold. Until it becomes familiar, as the saying goes, mind your fingers! The lock means it's not meant for EDC. So it stays at home. Overall, I like it. (Posted on )
  3. Only one flawReview by
This has been my EDC for a long time now and I wouldn't be without one. I work in a goods inwards / despatch and it is ever present in the coin pocket of my work trousers. I use it constantly and would be lost without it.

Also I find it very easy to remove, open, use, close and put back again with one hand. It takes a little practice and the mechanism can be a bit stiff at first but it become second nature very quickly.

I have owned several of these over the years and have only found there to be one flaw with the design. The threaded hole where the screw holds the blade in has a tendency to ream after a while, depending on how heavy handed you are when replacing the blade. It usually happens to me around the two year mark. That aside I couldn't do without one of these and I'll be buying another when the time comes.

  4. A wonderfull little bladeReview by
This is just the job. No sharpening to do and small enough to clip into the change pocket in my jeans. The finish on the knife is superb, the action smooth and the lock good. Highly recommended for EDC. (Posted on )
  5. Supremely useful.Review by
Bought one of these from Heinnie a few years ago and have used it daily at work ever since. It is simple to use and effective. decent pocket clip, strong liner lock, easy to change blades. Have just ordered another as I put mine down and forgot where. (Posted on )
  6. You need this in your pocket!Review by
Great little knife for an EDC... Slim, well built, sharp. Half the time you don't even realise it's in your pocket.
Infact it's so good im buying another as a backup!

  7. RecommendedReview by
A great little blade holder, incredibly sturdy so far and reassuringly solid in the hand. The pocket clip is very firm, and there is a nice positive action to the folding mechanism. My only criticism is that the liner lock is quite difficult to un-engage - it sits completely flush in the liner so you need to get your nails in and it requires quite a bit of pressure to push it in to fold. But a very solid knife overall that is good value at the price. (Posted on )
  8. Get one!Review by
Had one of these for years now, use it everyday for work and home. It's never left my pocket since I've had it and it folds so small you don't even know its there. Better than any other Stanley knife as well because you get to use a lot more of the blade. I've just talked myself into buying another one just incase I lose mine. Follow my lead, get one.
