CRKT Razel WAS £46.95

CRKT Razel WAS £46.95

The CRKT Razel has always been a massively popular knife designed by Jon and Josh Graham. It is an unusual knife with a chisel point which is an incredibly useful feature for many jobs a standard blade would struggle with. The blade uses 8Cr13MoV stainless steel which is a tough material that holds an edge well but sharpens easily.

The handle is generously sized and made from black and grey micarta which is not only super strong but looks pretty cool too. The blade locks into place with a linerlock which is further secured in place with the CRKT LAWKS secondary locking system. This is a lot of knife for an excellent limited time offer price.

  1. GoodReview by
I've had none of the reported issues with mine.
Blade is centered, safety lock engages fine.
Lock up is a little early, but wears in after a while. After a quick lube and play it deploys quite easily.
Heavy and substantial feel - very solid.
Only gave it 4 as it's not an ideal edc, as the blade shape does not lend itself to being a good slicer. However, it's tough and would easily withstand chopping tasks.
It's a real looker and unusual - worth having in your collection for that alone.
Very good price for what it is.

  2. Shoddy but niceReview by
    This is a cheap-a**d knife.
But its worth noting that this is a cheap-a***d copy of a Jon Graham custom knife that sells for over five hundred US dollars (with a waiting list). It also has G10 scales and a decent blade.
CRKT somehow got a license to do knock off copies of his design and did it in true CRKT style: decent materials, decent steel, assembled by monkeys.
Its a fifty dollar copy of a five hundred dollar custom knife (which personally I cant afford) currently retailing at £26.95 from HH.
I bought one and realised that it is not perfect. Then ordered 2 more. Working the action for a few hours resolves most of the mechanical issues. It MIGHT require a little work from a knifesmith.
But if you order it right now you are spending £27 to get a cheap a***d production copy of a custom knife that lets face it... none of us will own.

  3. Great work knifeReview by
I've been using this for a week at work and it has proven to be very useful. The chisel point is a great feature. The build quality is good for the price. I haven't had any lock up issues with mine. Overall I'm really pleased with it. (Posted on )
  4. Very pleasedReview by
A quick click away from body to open and lock.To close use some pressure as if opening and lock disengages.blade reasonably centred.v good value for money (Posted on )
  5. nice knife for the priceReview by
im a little dissapointed that the locking system was not properly mated, i have filed a little off the back of the knife and now it locks only just, will finish it off tomorrow when i can be bothered stripping it again. (Posted on )
  6. Grab it on offer Review by
I bought this knife because of the quirky blade (and it was on offer). After having some issues with the liner lock Heinnie sorted it straight away.
If you buy this knife be prepared to work the action before the lock will engage correctly.
Having said that it’s a nice knife for less than £30.

  7. Solid Bargain and very handyReview by
I’ve wanted one of these for years and admit I took advantage of the current offer!
This a Solid Work Tool ,Robustly built to the quality I expect from CRKT.
The unusual ‘Chisel Point’ is a very useful feature and I’m sure I will find tasks for it in the foreseeable future!
If like me you have wanted one, nows your chance!

  8. For the money. Review by
For the money this is a beautiful knife. I too have the similar problems mentioned in some of the other reviews. In that the blade does not center on closing, also the liner lock does not work if one opens the blade softly, it needs you to flick it out to engage the lock on the heel of the blade. Once you have the blade liner locked then the secondary lock can be slid into place, locking the knife up securely..
I feel that this may well wear in with a little bit of playing with it. However, if it doesn't, then a very easy solution for me would be to run a very fine diamond or Arkansas stone along the blade rest pillar at the back of the knife. This will relieve the blade very slightly to travel a little further allowing it to lock fully. This can be done without taking the knife apart. Of course this course of action is up to the individual and I'm in no way am I responsible if someone is stupid enough to damage the knife or themselves. I only offer this as a solution. There's an old saying, "there's a difference between scratching your bum and tearing chunks out of it". As to the centering of the blade, it may be possible to tighten the pivot screw very slightly bringing the blade back into alignment. I'm not certain if this will work yet as I haven't taken any tools to my knife at this time. I'm going to play with it for a awhile and see how it goes.
I hope that my comments may be of help to someone.

  9. Excellent pieceReview by
Mine was razor sharp from the box. The secondary blade lock is smooth after a few initial openings.
An absolute bargain. It's going in my shooting range bag.
    Great service from HH.

  10. Solid working knifeReview by
I've had my Razel for a few days now, and it's a very solid piece of kit.
the scales are well contoured and grippy, so it's secure in the hand, the lock engages with a satisfying click, and the LAWKS system engages smoothly to secure the blade.
The blade steel, while not high end, is perfectly acceptable at this price point, and takes a hair popping edge after a quick strop out of the box.
The blade shape take a little getting used to, but it's surprisingly useful once you adjust to it.
My only gripe, the thing that stops me giving 5* is the tip down carry.
I don't really like it, and prefer tip up, but this seems to be a design choice that appears on a lot of the CRKT range, I understand that it's the company owners carry preference.
Overall, an excellent blade, and a steal at this price. Buy one while you can.

  11. Updated Review.Review by
Still liking this knife, using it a lot.As for another reviewer regarding it as dangerous ? not sure i agree, i have other crkt knives with this lococking and never had any safety issues. still very satisfied. (Posted on )
  12. Beast of a bladeReview by
Wow, I always wanted one of these first time around but was out iof my budget, but at this price I jumped on it. The liner is so early lock uo it will take a few hard opening to bed in, you wouldnt want a loose sloppy lock on this blade, so if like mine the lock bar doesnt go over enough first time open and close it hard and get it bed in and it will become perfect. Thank you HH for bringing this back at a tremendous price (Posted on )
  13. Great bit of kitReview by
All I can say is what a fantastic knife. Love the design and it looks tough as nails only time will tell I suppose but if first impressions are anything to go by then I'm sure it will last. Only niggle is the liner lock is quite tight and doesn't engage very well, I'm sure this will be fine once the knife wears in a little. Grab one whilst they are on offer and available. (Posted on )
  14. It is a beastReview by
WOW just WOW, what a folding chisel for £27 , thick and strong, open few times with gusto and the lawks can be activated for superior peace or mind. Need to own one to apprecauite the stoutness of this beast. Cheers HH for getting these back (Posted on )
  15. Very impressed! Not for everyone though..Review by
Very nicely built strong knife with a good look. Blade centring is off and the loner lock doesn't lock unless you really flick it out. However I can ignore these things and give it 5/5.

The overall design, lock finish and fit plus the blade centring might be enough for some to dislike this.

  16. The Razel by crkt.Review by
Just received this knife, and i really like it.
Build quality is good, Although when i first took it from the box i found that the LAWKS system to be very stiff, and i contacted the team @ H/H to point this out.
But having worked the knife opening and closing it, this has eased the mechanism.
The blade steel is 8CR13 which i have in other knives, and find it good.
Micarta scales are good & it has one position pocket clip. Blade was sharp otb.
Chisel shaped blade i think would lend itself very nicely to either a hobbyist or someone who works with wood.
    Overall,i'm pleased with this purchase.
