Byrd Meadowlark 2 FRN

Byrd Meadowlark 2 FRN

Already one of the best value in the popular byrd line, the Meadowlark Lightweight has been completely reengineered to yield the new, improved Meadowlark 2.

Its many upgrades include a full-flat-ground blade for enhanced edge geometry and cutting performance, a Bi-Directional Textured FRN handle that offers a superior grip and increased control, and phosphor bronze pivot washers for even smoother blade operation. Like its predecessor, it also features spine and choil jimping for precise control during use and a four-position clip that supports all possible carry configurations.

Improved features at very affordable prices make the Meadowlark 2 Lightweight one of the best values on the market.

  1. Brilliant knifeReview by
Super fast standard delivery, brilliant knife, razor sharp out of box, ideal size for various jobs around the house, (not UK legal as it has a back lock), handle nice and grippy, fit and finish excellent, easy to open one handed, (bit stiff to open initially but after 20-30 practice openings it loosened up nicely), highly recommend this knife. 2. Excellent small knifeReview by
Superb value, lockback folder. Blade is sharp out of the box. One hand opening possible but blade is stiff so makes that difficult, certainly not a flipper.

FRN Scales are grippy but kind of sharp. Good value at this price though. Finger choil on blade essential in my mind for accurate work and safety, one thing that I wish they'd put on the Spyderco value range.

Super fast standard delivery, the second fastest company I've ever bought from.

  3. Almost UK legal EDC! Denied by screw, d'oh!Review by
When I got this through the door I was immediately impressed with its sexy design and lightweight construction. Opening the blade it makes that nice locking click that sounds reassuring. The knife is VERY comfortable in the hand with a number of different grips possible.

Having read Greg's review here I was planning on doing his modification to make this knife into a slip-joint, but alas the pivot screw wouldn't come out and the torx socket got stripped! Unless I figure how to get that screw out I suppose I'm stuck with a knife that is not UK legal. Oh well, it's still a very nice knife.

The blade does have a rather downward attitude to it, if I could change anything about it I'd probably want the tip to point a little further back/upwards, it's not really a complaint I have about it, just something I've noticed that I reckon I'd prefer.

Excellent little knife, great value for money, very happy with!

  5. ExcellentReview by
I have one of these and a Tern. I converted the Meadowlark to be non-locking (by filing a chamfer on the tang) and it makes a better EDC than the Tern: larger blade and I actually prefer the FRN, especially when clipping it to my pocket. It's not quite a Spyderco UKPK but it has a price which makes it a beater, as an EDC should be. (Posted on )

New Meadowlark is a great knife. Blade holds a great edge and slices really well. Love the FRN handles - great grip and feel. Big Fan of Byrd knifes. Try the Tern as a UK EDC. (Posted on )
