Have had one of these since they were released years ago and it’s still going strong. At the time I was a gardener and this tool has been used for everything from light trimming to heavy tree branches. It’s a very light weight tool to have on your belt while your up a ladder. People have commented about the handle screws coming loose but after 5 years mine never has ( but who cares anyway get a screwdriver and tighten it up people!) I believe I paid abit less for this perhaps £40 but for the reasonable price you get a reliable price of equipment. (Posted on )

My first parang so can't compare it to others but seems to Chop and slice well although my only concern is after only 30 minutes using it from new the screws came slightly loose in the handle causing a knocking noise when waved from side to side. (Posted on )
    3. not as bad as some sayReview by

Not a bad bit of kit, the blade is a tad slim and where it joins the handle it's a tad weak looking. On the whole not bad for the price I paid ú27. It looks as strong as it is so no excuse for breaking it and is not meant for splitting hard woods but makes an awesome tool for carving, thinner branches and making pointy sticks. (Posted on )

Decent parang for the money. Just don't go expecting to slice logs. This is meant for thin brush and vines, basically jungle work. After the recall I am very happy with mine.

It is comfortable in the hand, easy to use, has a decent sheath and is easy to sharpen.

Not a fan, looks impressive enough and has Bear Grylls name on it but that's the end of it. Handle & blade strike angle are wrong for me, by the time you make contact with the work my wrist is over extended and do not feel connected with the tool, I'm not happy to use this at all. Have had a Wilkinson Sword / Fiskars tools for about 10 years and a new Cold Steel Heavy Machete, both much better options. 1 out or 10 and that's for cool looks only. (Posted on )

I've used this for splitting logs, clearing brush and even felling small trees. For 30ish quid this tool lets you use it without fear of losing or breaking it. Despite this it is very well made and sturdy. The sheath however is a bit of a pain! Can't go wrong! (Posted on )

If you want a Parang that works look at Lofty Wisemans or Chris Cains this model doesn't cut it or go the whole hog get a real Kukri! My advice buy UK or USA made products you know what your getting !!!! (Posted on )

HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BASH IT SILLY YET BUT FINE IN THE GARDEN AND LIGHT TO MEDIUM WORK IN WOODLAND. IT IS A BIT RATTLY IN THE SHEATH AND I WILL BE MODIFYING THE EDGE FOR FINER TASKS ON THE FIRST COUPLE OF INCHES NEAR THE HILT. PUT THIS AND THE BG FOLDING SHEATH KNIFE TOGETHER AND BINGO. BLACK OUT THE BG LOGO FOR FOREST CREDIBILITY FROM WILDLIFE! (Posted on )

My wife got me one for my birthday!! What a great tool, first class for making a hunting hide or shelter. Excellent balance, strong sharp blade, and at last, a good sized handle for big hands. Well done. (Posted on )

A lovely Machete sharp as anything straight out of the box and this machete does as Bear says in his video. I chopped through a pine tree that had been blown down in no time. This is my favorite machete and I have tried a few. (Posted on )

Sunday was gardening day and this new parang outperformed both my old gerber sawback and the generic khukri I use on thicker branches. Loses 1 for being a bit short and the sheath being short on carrying options. but so far the best of the BG range (and that isn't a backward compliment like "best tory health minister" or "least rusty Lancia"). This is the tool of choice for the occasional camping trip, makes light work of logs for campfires etc. And it looks cooler than most of the competition. (Posted on )
