Wanted a classic British made pocket knife for my collection. Having read some other reviews here and elsewhere was worried in case I got a “Friday afternoon special”. However, although it’s a little bit rough in one small area of the rear spring (which I like to think confirms it to be hand-made) overall it’s a timeless classic; functional but also great to hold and admire. Not the sharpest knife I’ve bought but definitely not blunt (and that was easily rectified). Very pleased with this purchase at a great price too!!

I’m a joiner and at some points during my day I need to load materials and I remove my belt to give my back a rest. It is only then I realise I need to cut something open. Alas, the Stanley knife is in my belt. I needed a pocket knife. I trawled through the Heinnie Haynes website for something cheap, traditional and made in the UK. I stumbled across this little blade and when it arrived I spent a bit of time sharpening a fine edge on it. It doesn’t really hold a shaving edge but it cuts everything I offer it up to nonetheless. And it looks like my Dads old pocket knife. That’ll do for me. (Posted on )

Always suspected this might be a bit rough for the money. How wrong I was. A great little knife, very well finished (and I'm proper pernickety!). Very even scales and smooth rivets, well ground (slightly uneven - there found sommat!), good strong lever. Practical blade shape. And for this money, really? I'll be getting one for all the family! One thing is that it fells great in a pocket, no rough edges or sharp corners. (Posted on )

I'm not a knife connoisseur or expert but this knife is solid, well made and feels nice in the hand.
It's good to see a knife with "Made in Sheffield " on the blade.
Some say it didn't arrive sharp , this one did.
    Service from HH was excellent

Ordered this knife as I wanted to support the British steel industry and a blade made in Sheffield I thought would be great quality. Unfortunately the blade was very dull and the finish was awful. I just couldn't get it sharp, and I use knives for leather craft, so I need em sharp.

Very disappointed but was able to return for a Sword Peasant made in New Zeland, and that was much better for the money.

It is a shame as this knife is very good looking and the handle is wonderful, just not the blade.

Fit and finish a bit rough..but I like that. Great steel. Perfect back spring. Feels great in hand. I think this is my all time favorite EDC. Again: A bit rough in the fit and finish AND you need to know how to sharpen a knife ;-) (Posted on )

Have a very large collection of pocket knives going back 50 years, and needed to get an Arthur Wright or 2. Had not seen very good reviews, and was doubtful that this would be something to display in the collection. Very pleasantly surprised, when I opened the package.
Well made and beautifully finished. Sheffield CAN do it when they try.
Will now order more AW knives to add to my Sheffield collection.
Next day delivery from HH too !

This without a doubt is a knife to use it's a true tool. The blade sharpens easy, holds a good edge. Best and most used legal to carry knife I own and use, from gutting rabbits to slicing up dead baits for pike fishing, it's a perfect horticultural knife as well. It's as good as I would need from a similar fixed blade option, it's British Sheffield steel made with a steel most users can sharpen with ease, if you looking for a UK carry legal knife that your going to actually use you can not beat this for the money imho. I have one of these made from 01 Carbon Steel. It is amazing for the money. HH please stock the more traditional type.

Good fit of the nice scales and well polished bolsters. Gap between the liner and spring on one side. Tight blade, but why stainless steel on a knife this traditional? Does not cut as well as an Opinel at half the price, even when given a much needed sharpen at home, hence only three stars. (Posted on )
